One of the most important things at your wedding is your wedding dress. That is why it takes time and preparation to find the perfect gown for you. Below you can find some do’s and don’ts when trying on wedding dresses. This way we hope that you can enjoy the experience of finding your dream dress together with your closest friends and family.
Do: have a budget for your wedding dress
It is important to know how much you want to spend on your dream dress. This way you can avoid that you try on a dress that you really like and afterwards you find out that it is way outside of your budget. Trying on too expensive dresses can be disappointing and unmotivating. We advise to have some wiggle room with your budget, so when it is slightly more expensive you can still buy your dream dress.
Don't: schedule multiple appointments on 1 day
Trying on wedding dresses can be a very overwhelming and tiring experience. That is why we advise that you don’t schedule multiple appointments on 1 day. This way your opinion can be influenced by the mood that you are in. When you have multiple appointments on 1 day the first one can also feel a bit rushed, because you have time pressure.
Do: try on multiple styles of wedding dresses
Try to be open-minded when you are trying on wedding dresses. Make sure to try on multiple styles of dresses, so you can be absolutely sure that you found the one that fits you the best. If you don’t try on multiple styles, you might begin to wonder if that other style didn’t fit you even better than the dress that you bought. If you try on multiple styles, you can take that doubt away.
Don’t: bring too big of a group to the fitting appointment
You only want people there whose opinion you value deeply and who dare to be honest with you. If you bring too many people with you, you get a lot of different opinions. These opinions can make you doubt your choice and push you in the direction that you don’t want. So only bring a couple of people who mean a lot to you.
Do: some research about what kind of dress you would like
We advise that you do some kind of research about what kind of dress you would like to wear at your wedding. This way the expert in the store can help you more efficiently. Of course, it is important that you try on multiple styles, but if you see yourself walking down the aisle in a ballgown dress, then a fit&flare maybe isn’t the one for you.
Don’t: feel pressured when trying on wedding dresses
Trying on wedding dresses can become overwhelming and with the opinions of your group, you can feel pressured to choose a different dress than you want. We know it is hard but try to not feel pressured into a wedding dress that you don’t like as much as your own choice. When you are not 100% behind your own choice, you might regret it, and that is the last thing that you want.
Do: enjoy the whole process of fitting wedding dresses
Trying on wedding dresses is a once in a lifetime experience and that is why you have to try to enjoy it. It is a lot to take in and a lot of different impressions, but it is also an experience with the people you love the most. It is an intimate moment that you will cherish your whole life.
Don’t: start too late with trying on wedding dresses
It is important that you start early with looking for wedding dresses. You don’t want to have time pressure to find your dream dress, since this can alter your choices. On average a wedding dress has a delivery time of 4 to 8 months. That is why we advise that you start at least 1 year before your wedding date with trying on wedding dresses.
